We are starting to work with decimal numbers. So far, the smallest number the students know was 1. There are more places to the right of the point in the place value chart. These numbers are in the tenths and hundredths places. Decimals are used in every day life, like money and timing sports events.
Each Unit has been divided into a hundred smaller squares, or hundredths (centesimas) in Spanish. The students made a skyline with buildings and landmarks made of grid paper. Then they had to write the number of squares,which are hundredths of a unit. The also had to write is as a fraction.
